Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development:
NICA in partnership with Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development under the (PPP) program has introduced and at the verge of setting up Tractor Hiring Services (THS) nationwide. Farm Mechanization has been a problem confronting the growth of agriculture in Nigeria since decades but with the introduction of THS which guarantee the importation of over 10,000 Tractors and various agricultural implements, it is assured that agriculture in Nigeria will experience a remarkable turnaround.
Katsina State Farmers Association:
In Katsina State, there is a vast space of land for cultivation but only 30% of it is being put into use due to lack of agricultural machines. In ensuring that the THS under PPP gets to the grass root NICA has successfully grouped the farmers in Katsina State to form stronger cooperative groups to contribute 20% of the cost of agricultural machines. Already, the THS is being implemented in the state under the PPP arrangement.
NICA has also partnered with some privately owned companies in Senegal among which is ACIMEX through sourcing for Senegalese Government Guarantee to supply over 2000 units Tractors and Implements to the farmers within Senegal on leasing arrangement.
In similar vein NICA grouped some cooperative unions and made stronger groups to enable them source for loan from a commercial bank for the importation of fertilizer.
